Manaslu Base Camp trek is regarded as a challenging outdoor trail full of absolute wilderness. A trekking experience in Manaslu region is unlike any other. So be ready to travel along some of the toughest trails in the Himalayan region. The highest trophy of this magical trek is the spectacular glimpse of Mt. Manaslu (8,156m), the eighth highest mountain in the world. The crossing of Larkya La pass (5213m) will afford us breath taking views of Manaslu ranges including Samdo (Pang phuchuli), Nagdi chuli, Simnang Himal, Manaslu glacier and Manaslu ice fall among others. The unique and peculiar culture, custom and lifestyle of local people, who closely resembles their neighbor Tibetans, will offer you a brilliant occasion to learn and expand your worldly horizon.
Do not be swayed by its remote location and difficult climbing, at the end of the day, the sweat and toil you will spend in Manaslu will be amply rewarded with the mesmerizing scenery, amazing wildlife and fascinating cultures of local people.The Manaslu Trek can be organized for different duration and season. After early morning breakfast, drive from Kathmandu to Arughat Bazaar (570m.) takes about 7 hours. You will drive along well paved road up to Tari Besi along the bank of Khani Khola, Trishuli River and Thopal Khola. It is a beautiful picturesque journey passing through green hill, flowing stream, farming terraces, villages, small market and mountain views. Leaving Tari Besi you continue your drive along gravel path crossing Ankhu Khola all the way to Arughat Bazaar. Stay overnight in lodge.
You trek over a flat leveled path along the bank of Budhi Gandaki River through mostly terraces, numerous villages, green hills, some pretty waterfalls and green forest. To reach Soti Khola, the trail fluctuates uphill and downhill through forest of Sal, Chilaune and other local vegetation. Soti Khola is a village at the bank of Budhi Gandaki. Stay overnight in lodge.
It takes 30 minutes walk to reach Nyauli Khola waterfall. This trail is horizontal caved in by green hills on both sides. Another two hour’s walk will reach you Machakhola, which is famous for local fish. Further ahead is Khorlabesi village and from here it takes 2.30 hrs to arrive at hotspring (Tatopani). Stay overnight in lodge.
Start your trek by crossing Budigandaki over suspension bridge. The trail is hemmed in on both sides by huge cliffs and a little ahead is few landslide spots. On the left side of the trail you could see waterfall. Thulodhunga to Yaru section gradually ascends and you will stop at Yaru for lunch. Ahead is a 300m long Cantilever bridge, which after crossing, you come onto easy trail. A trek of 1.30 hrs will bring you to Jagat. There is a Mansalu Conservation Project office and police check post in Jagat. Stay overnight in lodge.
Leaving Jagat you will find an easy trail to negotiate feautring a waterfall. In 1hr you will enter beautiful Salleri village and then Sirdibas. The trail advances via Ghatte khola village to a point where there is a suspension bridge. 20 min uphill walk after the bridge will take you to Philim bazaar, which is the second district headquarters of Gorkha district. Stay overnight in lodge.
Chispani and Eklebhatti are two major spots you will touch leaving Philim and then descend slightly to Gampul (New Bridge). Now cross Budi Gandaki river and then walk up to Nyakphedi for 25 minutes. Continue uphill walk to Pewa for one hour through the jungle and another 1 hr to Deng on a forested path. A short moment before arriving in Deng you will witness Siringi Himal named after the Siringi Monastery nearby. Stay overnight in lodge.
20 minutes after you leave Deng you will cross Budi Gandaki and then the trail goes uphill via Rana to Bihi. On your right is Siringi range while on left is a sight of Prok village and huge rocky hills. From Bihi to stone bridge via Gaap village the trail becomes horizontal. The trail ascends from Gaap village through jungles of Himalayan pine and bamboo up to Namrung. Stay overnight in lodge.
For 45 minutes straight you take a horizontal trail through buckwheat fields and then 30 minutes uphill trek to Lihi. You will gradually walk uphill for 2 hrs and 30 minutes to Lo witnessing great Manaslu and Himchuli ranges. After taking lunch in Lho, continue trek for another 1.30 hrs up to Shyala. Stay overnight in lodge with beautiful views of mountains.
After breakfast take 45 minutes and then turn left from here. 2 hours trek from here with a combination of uphill and horizontal path will reach you Pung-gyen Gumpa. Along the trail you can enjoy spectacular views of Himchuli, Manaslu I & II and Shyaula peak. Return all the way down to Sama Gaon for 2 hrs. Stay overnight in lodge.
This day you will visit Birendra Lake which is at the bottom of the Manaslu glacier. This trail will also take you to Manaslu Base Camp. Stay overnight in lodge.
Follow the horizontal path which is windy while enjoying great views of Samdo, Manaslu and Naike peaks. Cross Budi Gandaki River and walk uphill for 15 minutes to Samdo. Stay overnight in lodge.
Today you will see many beautiful mountain peaks and rock hills such as Samdo, Manaslu, North face, Pawar, Peri, Larkey La and Naike peaks along the trail. Stay overnight in lodge.
Early in the morning you begin 4-5 hrs steep ascent until Larkya La through a rocky and windy path and another 2-3 hrs to Bimthang. Along the way you can enjoy the views of Larkya peak, Mt. Manaslu, Ratna Chuli, Cheo Himal, Mt. Himlung and Himlung glacier, Punker glacier and Punker lake, Mt. Kimlung and Kimlung glacier. Stay overnight in lodge.
From Bimthang, take a 20 minute downhill trek and then cross a river fed by three glaciers. Follow all the way down through rhododendron forest enjoying Manaslu views on your left until Yak Kharka. The trail ahead gradually descends to Surki Khola and you will step on to easy trail to beautiful Goa village where you will have lunch. After lunch, 1 hr flat level path to Tilije and another 1.30 hrs down to to Dharapani. Stay overnight in lodge.
The trail ahead crosses Marsyangdi River and then follows left trail for one hour to the beautiful village of Taal. There is a big waterfall in Taal. From Taal, you will climb down for 1.30 hrs to Chyamje which also features a huge waterfall. Trek for another hour to arrive at Jagat. Stay overnight in lodge.
Today follow the shores of Gandaki to Syange for one hour before crossing Marshyangdi River. Next 15 minutes you will spend walking up to Ghermophat followed by 2 hrs horizontal path and 30 minutes ascend to beautiful village of Bahun Danda. The trail thereafter goes downhill for 2 hrs to Nagdi. Stay overnight in lodge.
You trek over a flat leveled path all the way to Besisahar through villages such as Bhulbhule, Khudi and others. Your route cuts across terraces, ridges and sometimes you cross small streams. Beshisahar is the district headquarters of Lamjung district. Stay overnight in lodge/camp.
It is a picturesque drive on the way back to Kathmandu along the banks of the Marshyangdi and Trishuli rivers with splendid views of green hills, mountains, farming terraces and colorful villages on both sides of road.
